Battle for the Banded Rail – Community planting day

May 26 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

free

Battle for the Banded Rail is a project working with local communities to increase the number of banded rail and other estuarine birds on the margins of the Waimea Inlet by restoring habitat and trapping predators. This is the first of a series of planting day. See the full winter schedule here.

Pukeko Lane is off the Coastal Highway between Research Orchard Road and Westdale Road.  Drive along Pukeko Lane for 500m and you will see our flag.  Access and parking is at the top of an empty section.

Bring gloves, a spade if you have one and drinking water.  Wear solid footwear and clothes suitable for the weather conditions.  Morning tea will be provided and all volunteers are welcome.

No need to register, but if the weather is not good, we will cancel by 8am on the day.  However, if it’s just doubtful or light rain we will go ahead. Please check the organiser Facebook page here.

This event is part of Climate Action Festival. See the full program here.
