Join the first planting session of the year for the Banded Rail!

28 May 2023 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Battle for the Banded Rail is a project working with local communities to increase the number of banded rail and
other estuarine birds on the margins of the Waimea Inlet by restoring habitat and trapping predators.

Their first planting on 28th May at Estuary Place in Richmond  coincides with Climate Action Week.

Access is from the end of Estuary Place or from the cycleway.  Estuary Place is off Lower Queen Street, Richmond, 1km from the traffic lights.
Bring gloves, a spade if you have one and drinking water.  Wear solid footwear and clothes suitable for the weather conditions.  Morning tea will be provided and all volunteers are welcome.
If the weather is not good, we will cancel by 8am on the day (in this case, please phone or email the organiser). However, if it’s just doubtful or light rain we will go ahead.

Our full planting schedule for this winter can be seen below. Everyone is welcome and there are jobs other than
digging!

If you would like to receive their weekly emails about planting days coming up through the season please contact the Battle for the Banded Rail team.
