The Nelson Tasman Climate Forum
Our Charter and Membership
About Our Charter
The Charter is a core document of The Nelson Tasman Climate Forum. It sets out a shared understanding of our commitments and goals, and how we intend to work together. It is our guiding light and orientates us to our purpose of weaving our communities together around urgent strategic action on climate change. The Charter was drafted with input from local iwi and a commitment was made to work alongside tangata whenua as kaitiaki of the rohe and as partners under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We encourage you to read our Charter, to absorb its message, and allow it to be your guiding light too.
Membership to the Forum begins with signing the Charter
By signing the Charter, you will be joining an ever growing movement of people who are making positive change in their individual spheres of influence. People who refuse to be bystanders while our only home, our precious taiao succumbs to the effects of a man-made climate emergency. Signing the Charter also increases our membership, gives mana to our organisation and strengthens our core.
As a Member, you commit to working towards the goals outlined in the Charter for the Nelson and Tasman communities through:
• Inclusion and respect, particularly through acknowledging, respecting and working with nga lwi tangata whenua;
• Acting promptly, purposefully and responsibly, together and individually; and
• Participating in good faith in the Forum.
Members of the Forum get to:
Participate in our consensus based decision-making processes
Lend their voices to Forum-wide submissions on climate related matters at the local and national level

The Climate Action Book
The Nelson Tasman Climate Forum offers this plan for every citizen of our region — for individuals, households, businesses, farmers, schools and colleges, religious organisations, councils and iwi. We also hope to help other parts of Aotearoa to develop their own Climate Action Plans and contribute to the development of Climate Action Plans around the world.
